Sosuke Yamamoto founded a private company, Yamamoto Gumi, in Tsukida, Yahata,
as part of the measures for the displaced workers of Yahata Steel Works (now Nippon Steel Corporation’s Kyushu Steel Works Yahata Area).

Rented a factory in Ichieda, Tobata, from Yahata Steel Works and started operating the factory.
(In the beginning, the company manufactured daily necessities, agricultural machinery, buckets, and other sheet metal products.) -

Yamamoto Industries, Ltd. was incorporated with a capital of three million yen.
The first president was Sosuke Yamamoto, and the company received its first order for drums from Yahata Steel Works at that time. -

The company’s drum factory was completed in the Ichieda Plant, and the company made a full-scale entry into drum production.

Became Japan’s first drum manufacturer to use helium-type airtightness inspection equipment for 200-liter drums. The company introduced it to the headquarters plant and strengthened its quality assurance system for drums.
The company was selected as a primary steelwork contractor for the Kanda and Isa cement plants of Ube Industries, Ltd.
